FGA Programs | Educators
Each year the FGA hosts educators across the state for a week-long retreat full of resources, tours, guest speakers, ground-breaking curriculum and completely free educational materials. These workshops are free of charge, including room and board, and travel to cities all along the peninsula. Previous institutes have found their homes at the Archbold Biological Station, Hillsborough River State Park, and right here at our headquarters in Florida's Capitol. This exciting annual event aims to equip teachers with a whole new love for geography.
The FGA Summer Institutes are set to resume in 2023!
No cost, endless resources. With expert workshop leaders and fun excursions each day, you will leave not only with standards-compliant curriculum, but with a fully renewed passion for the study of place.
Rooming is provided for all attendees at a local hotel free of charge. Meals are also provided, with vegan and halal options available.
Educators will be provided training and materials for innovative geography curriculum to bring home to their schools.
Each retreat includes an agenda of educational excursions, exploring Florida's unique locations!
Each year the FGA invites special guests and experts to run private workshops for a one-of-a-kind educational experience!
Attendees will each recieve a free ArcGIS account and foundational training in GIS technology for the classroom.
Leave room in your bags! We always send our attendees home with a little something extra.
