"The State Giant Maps project is based on the success of National Geographic's Giant Travelling Maps program. [In 2017] the National Geographic Society provided all 50 states and the District of Colombia with a free map of their state using the expertise of National Geographic's Cartographic Division and research on elementary spatial thinking.- National Geographic Society
This project is an expression of the committment that the NGS has to educators who are teaching students about the world and empowering them to make a difference."
The Florida Geographic Alliance houses two Giant Maps of Florida which circulate the state throughout the school year. Teachers and schools may rent the map for two weeks at a time, completely free of charge.
